More than 2.5 billion people lack clean water throughout the world. At least 3,000 children die each day from diseases caused by unsafe water. We support the Rotary International Foundation in providing relief service throughout the world.
What is happening?
Our latest fundraiser, "It's a Jungle Out There", was held Feb 9th at the Homosassa Wildlife Park. It was a completely sold out event featuring great food and the music of The George Durham Band. This event generated more revenue to support our charitable giving than any prior events. See the Fundraising Page for more information and pictures.Future speakers to plan for are B.J. Jarvis of the Fl Extension service on 2/26 and Ned Barry to talk about Rotary International Projects on 3/5.
Since 1985 Rotary members have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against Polio. Today, all but two countries are free of polio. Our club donates money each year to Rotary International Polio Plus Fund which has joined with the Gates foundation to finish the job.
Our club provides support to Lecanto Primary School by giving dictionaries to each 3rd grader, shoes and clothing to needy children and other materials where required. This year our focus is on the Homosassa Boys and Girls club where we are building a robotics laboratory.
Our Club provides funding and support to local organizations such as We Care Food Pantry and Citrus County Food Bank. We also provide funding and labor to Stop Hunger Now which packages food for distribution to needy countries around the world.
